Menno was my mentor through the most demanding years of Dog Chef, and the best way I can describe what he does is this: he doesn’t fix your company, he grows the person running it.

When we started working together, I was the founder who carried everything. Over those years we raised a €13M Series A, Dog Chef was named scale-up of the year, and I recruited the CEO who took over the operational lead so I could step into the role of President. Menno was part of each of those steps — not as the consultant with the answer, but as the person asking the question I had been avoiding.

What sets him apart is that he never stopped at the business. He pushed me to build a life that was 360°: sport, spirituality, family and the company as one thing rather than four competing ones. That is what actually made the move from entrepreneur to President possible — I had something to become, not just something to hand over.

He never judges. He never pushes you into his plan. He helps you find your own path and then holds you to it.

When we started working together, I ran Manhattn’s the way my brother Philippe and I always had: hands-on, reactive, deciding everything ourselves. Menno pushed me to stop and observe before I acted, question habits I’d never questioned, and build a wider view of what the business could actually become. He never asked me to get it perfect. He asked me to keep enough discipline to shift gears when the moment called for it, even while I was still figuring out the new version of myself.

The business changed too. We went from running Manhattn’s as a family-owned, linear-growth operation to building a proper international scale-up model, with an executive team that can carry weight I used to carry alone.

I have had the privilege of working with Menno for the past seven and a half years, and his contribution to both my personal and professional journey has been truly invaluable.

Menno first accompanied me in my own entrepreneurial projects and personal leadership journey. Over time, his role evolved as he helped initiate and support the coming together of my activities with those of my brother, Nicolas, within what has become Tero.

Menno has also been a member of our Board of Directors for several years, where he continues to bring perspective, clarity and constructive challenge. For us, he is much more than an advisor or mentor: he is a trusted sounding board, someone who is able to ask the difficult questions, challenge assumptions and help us see situations from a different perspective.

Menno has been active on our board for 5 years. During his tenure our Agency achieved a 5 years consecutive high double digit growth. We have immensely appreciated Menno’s contribution, alternating between high-level strategic and field-level operational, always putting things into perspective. As co-founder and CEO of the Pyco group, in charge of the growth strategy across all divisions, Menno is a regular working partner. What I particularly love about working with Menno is that he invests himself as if it were his own company, seeking maximum effectiveness and pragmatism. He very rapidly profoundly understood the stakes of our industry and business and delivered truly made-to-measure services. It started with a strategy and governance frameworks and played a key role in the set up of our executive and board meetings, which he initially led to optimally empower us into the transition of running them ourselves.
