Accessibility

The standard aimed at

WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. The site is believed to meet it substantially, with the known exceptions listed below. That is a considered claim rather than a certification: no third-party audit has been commissioned.

What is in place

• A skip link, so keyboard users can jump straight past the navigation to the main content.
• Every interactive control reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring that is never removed.
• Landmarks and a single, ordered heading structure on each page, so screen reader users can navigate by region and by heading.
• Text alternatives on meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from assistive tech.
• Body text meeting the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, and large display text meeting 3:1.
• Full respect for prefers-reduced-motion: the loading sequence is skipped, reveal animations do not run, the stepped section transitions collapse to plain boundaries, and the marquees stop moving.
• Form fields with real, permanently visible labels rather than placeholder text standing in for them, and errors announced rather than shown only by colour.
• Page zoom to 200% without loss of content, and no horizontal scrolling down to 320px.

Known limitations

Stated plainly, because they are real:

• The format list on wide screens updates its panel on hover as well as on click. Hovering is a convenience; clicking, tabbing and touch all work, and nothing is reachable only by hover.
• The client logo strip and book covers scroll continuously. They pause on hover and stop entirely under reduced motion, but there is no explicit pause button, which strict reading of criterion 2.2.2 prefers. Both are decorative and duplicate information available as text.
• The loading sequence plays a short video. It is silent, carries a text alternative, and is skipped entirely under reduced motion.
• No formal audit with assistive technology users has been carried out. Testing has been automated plus keyboard and screen reader checks.
